Swedish Air Force 100th Anniversary

Dates 22 - 23 August 2026
Location Linköping
On August 22 and 23, 2026, Malmen Air Base in Linköping, Sweden, will host the highlight of the Swedish Air Force’s centennial celebrations as part of Flygdagarna 2026. This historic event takes place on the very site where “Baron of the Air” Carl Cederström founded a flight school over a century ago, thereby laying the foundation for the national air force. The public is invited to enjoy two days full of discoveries with free admission, in the heart of a historic cradle of aviation.

The program offers visitors a wide selection of ground displays and a dynamic flight program centered around three main themes: the past, the present, and the future. The aerial and static displays will showcase an exceptional lineup combining historic aircraft (such as the Blériot XI, the J-22 Mustang, and the Saab B-17), current aircraft (including the JAS 39E Gripen), and renowned international guests such as the Frecce Tricolori, Red Arrows, and Midnight Hawks aerobatic teams, as well as various state-of-the-art aircraft like the French Rafale B and the Dutch F-35.

Gates and parking lots open at 6:30 a.m., with activities and exhibits opening at 8:00 a.m. and continuing until late afternoon, punctuated by morning and afternoon flight demonstrations separated by a quiet break around noon. Families and aviation enthusiasts can also explore the Future Crew recruitment area, check out civil and military defense equipment, or enjoy musical performances and dining options. Free shuttle buses will run from Linköping Resecentrum to facilitate access to the Malmen Air Base.
